Speed for Ultrarunners

Focusing on speed for ultrarunning may seem counterintuitive—I know you’re training for a race in in which you will run relatively slow. However, in this case, speed isn’t so much about making you a faster runner; rather, we are trying to increase your running efficiency. If you only run long and slow, you will limit the range of motion that you use for running and, as a result, limit the development of the muscles used for running.
